Saturday Snapshots is a fun non-book-related meme hosted by Alyce of At Home With Books each week. The idea is to post a photo that you, a friend, or family member has taken. The photos can't simply be taken randomly off the internet, and must also be family-friendly. Within those restrictions though, it's easy and lots of fun.
This week I'm digging back into my archives again. I think this one was taken with my current camera, but I'm honestly not sure anymore. Still, it's a subject I want to take more of in the future. Bees and flowers are a ton of fun to photograph, and somewhat challenging.
I quite like the way the depth of field worked out, although I'm sure this was taken on auto mode. Just luck.
Really though, I need to get back out and take more photographs, or at least get the current crop off of the camera card soon.

I'm just back from a trip to Europe and catching up on everyone's blogs.
Great macro shot! I must admit I leave my camera on auto mode more than I should also.
I love this. Bees are really difficult to photograph. I'm always trying to catch the on camera, but never quite succeed.
I keep my distance from bees, but I like your photograph.
I like shots of bees and other insects visiting flowers too. This flower is such a beautiful blue. I love how the bees wings look golden.
Scary taking photos of bees. I'm always afraid of getting stung.
That is a fabulous capture - well done.
Fun capture. Bees are difficult, but you did a great job.
Fabulous shot! Thanks for sharing, and enjoy your weekend.
Here's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT
I chased dragonflys one day...I can't imagine trying to capture bumblebees :)
Great shot! Amazing detail :-)
Thanks Jackie, it's the easy way to do things, the "I don't want to miss this shot" way. I'll use it nearly exclusively when I really don't want to miss the shot, like when I'm travelling.
Thanks Christine.
I tend to too, Carolyn - except when I'm behind the camera. Of course, you could use a longer focal length lens like a 40-150 lens rather than the standard one. Might not get the depth of field to work as shallowly though.
So am I actually, Kaye. Thanks for commenting.
Thanks Eva, Diane and Laurel. I'm glad you liked it.
Peppermint, bees are definitely slower than dragonflies. I've tried that too with no success. Thanks for commenting.
Thanks Melissa.
It looks like e jeweled brooch.
The bee cooperated beautifully.
That is an awesome photo. I was trying to snap a shot of a bee on my Rhodie this morning.
Thanks Edgar. Looking at it again, I can see that in it.
Nise' I hope you had some successes in those attempts.
Thanks for commenting.
Bees are definitely a challenge! Nice shot!
Thanks Alyce. Glad you like it.
I love the gold wings--beautiful!
Great shot--awesome detail!
The only time I've captured a bee in photo was by accident...I didn't even realize he was in there until I looked at the pictures later.
Here's my Snapshot
Thanks Cheryl. Glad you liked it.
Those accidents are always fun, Bev. Especially when you can't duplicate their effects later on.
Thanks for commenting.
Great intricate shot. I can't believe the bees' wings aren't blurry. Here's Mine
Thanks Paulita. Looking at it more, neither can I. Glad you like it.
