Free Books Website

I've been poking around with the new Google Wonder Wheel tool a bit this morning, and found this site of free books: PublicBookshelf.

Although the site says it's mostly romance novels, they do have other sections, including science fiction (which is how I found it).

Some of the science fiction and horror (they're grouped together) novels I found listed included:

• The Colours Of Space by Marion Zimmer Bradley
• The Chessmen of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs
• and seventeen others I hadn't heard of.

The site also has history books, garden books, mysteries, poetry and many other areas.

Judith Tarr Short Stories - Free

There are two free short stories by Judith Tarr at http://www.bookviewcafe.com/index.php/Judith-Tarr-ss-Bookshelf/. One is Classical Horses, a nice mix of modern and classical themes, all set in and around a stable.

If you're a horse-lover, fantasy fan or a history-lover, Judith Tarr's books are probably for you.

I hadn't realized until I read the biography at the site that she's written under other names as well, including Caitlin Brennan.

Free Short Stories

SF Signal has a list of 95 new short stories from the Baen webscription site. Thing is, these ones are free. There's stories from several authors I read and enjoy, including Elizabeth Moon, S. M. Stirling, and L.E. Modesitt Jr., as well as a whole bunch of other authors.

Grasping For The Wind link to free library

The Grasping For The Wind blog has a post up about a new science fiction/fantasy free library. Looks like there's some good books there if you don't mind reading on your computer screen. Some of the books include Trading in Danger, the first book in the Vatta's War saga, a Robin Hobb and others (and more books to come).

I know this is a site I'm going to be poking around on as I already enjoy the Baen Free Library.
