I was definitely a bit ambitious last week, when I said I'd get both Jack Whyte's Standard of Honor and Le Goff's The Medieval World read.
I managed to finish Standard of Honor, but not The Medieval World. I haven't yet gotten the review done, but the book is sitting by the computer, and I intend to write it up today. However, in the mean time, I'll say enthusiastically, that this is a really good set of books.
Currently, I'm still working away at The Medieval World (although it's slow going), and I'm also reading Order in Chaos, the third book of the Templar Trilogy by Jack Whyte, which just came out a few days ago. At the same time, I'm also reading Defenders of the Faith, by James Reston Jr.

Oh wow! These are all new-to-me books. Cool! I am off to check these out.
Enjoy! Defenders of the Faith is neat. It's not dry at all, and there's an interesting perspective.
In the prologue/introduction, he says that the Henry VIII/Catherine of Aragon issues are a side-story almost. When I read that, I went "What?". Then I realized just how England-centered my history reading had been.
First time hearing about these books -- I will have to check them out!
If you like history and historical fiction, you should. So far, they've either been really good, or are turning out to be really good as far as I've read yet.
Thanks for commenting, Jess.
New-to-me, too. Hope you enjoy them all!
I love the cover of Defenders of Faith (very striking and eye-catching).
Thanks for stopping by and participating in Thingers last week! I've got the post up for this week. ~ Wendi
I think I will enjoy them, Mary. Thanks for popping in.
