Pre-Printing Press Challenge - My Reading List

I've finally put my preliminary reading list together for my own challenge, the Pre-Printing Press Challenge.

I'm not being too ambitious though (as the originator of the challenge, I need to complete it).

The books I've chosen are:
  1. Beowulf
  2. The Illiad
  3. Herodotus The Histories
  4. The Alliterative Morte Arthur
  5. The Quest of the Holy Grail
  6. The Aeneid

Beowulf in Old English! Wow! Sounds like a challenge, but maybe you're like me: those sorts of challenges are actually my idea of fun! And thanks for the reminder about The Iliad. I've had that on a TBR list for a long time, too. I've been working on memorizing a few lines here and there over the last couple of years and will continue to memorize another three or four every now and again. But for the sake of the challenge, I'll read the English translation!

Three words sum up Beowulf: Facing Page Translation. I'm going to be cheating a lot.

I still haven't decided between the Heaney or the Chickering translation though.
