That is just plain awesome! You've got me beat by about 30 - and people call me nuts ;)
That is an amazing collection! :)
*gibbers and collapses* That's a lot of books! Very nice collection. Very nice indeed. And you said you had more in storage? I'm not nearly the Tolkien fan that you are, but I'm jealous.
Also? You should leave that construction as is. Really. ;-)
I've been called that before too, icowdave. That and "obsessed". Thanks for commenting.
Thanks Allie.
Anassa, the construction's already come down - I needed to have the kitchen table back. Now you see why I was kind of dreading the task - I think there are at least two more books that aren't on the list, but are in storage, but I can't remember the titles.
Thanks for commenting.
Ah, I see. I was teasing, though. I figured it would come down pretty quick. :) I see why you were dreading it though, yeah.
I know you were :). Yeah, it's scary. Last time I did "The List" it was at 80 books - with some more duplicates. There should be (I thought), at least one more edition of The Fellowship and The Two Towers.
That is amazing! I feel incredibly deficient because I haven't read any Tolkien...ever. Or seen the movies. Inspired by your abundance, I think some of these books are going on The List.
Very Hungry Bookworm, they're well worth reading and I hope you do give the books a try some day.
Thanks for commenting.
Wow! I see I have missed a whole lot of what's out there! Bravo to you for taking pride in your obsession. This is a good one to have, as obsessions go.
Thanks, J.G. Glad to see you dropping by again.
This is definitely one of the best books that was ever written. Tolkien, may he rest in peace, was one of the best fantasy writers that ever lived, and Lord of the Rings is definitely the finest piece of work he wrote. Finally, it is honored with this beautiful edition, that is worthy of such a great series.
It is indeed, one of my all-time favourite books. Thanks for commenting, Portugal.
Im going to buy some tolkien books, my first editions. Which should I buy? I hear Harper and Collins is prefferable? Should I buy with Lee's illustrations? :)
Wonderfull collection ;)
I'd say it depends on what you want. I'm quite partial to Alan Lee's illustrations, but I think the books with them are larger.
For ease of reading, the non-illustrated sets are the most convenient, but if you're looking for something to display as well, one of the nice illustrated editions are great.

Thank you! Helped a lot, Wonderfull blog :)
Glad I can help, and I'm glad you like my blog.
