I was just making an observation.

I'll have to look out for the Rowland books though.Elenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08961035078725474747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8181364634779383173.post-9406720819194391982010-03-06T16:55:14.893-08:002010-03-06T16:55:14.893-08:00Elena, I don't think you specified "books...Elena, I don't think you specified "books you have". I recommend Sunshine if you find it, though, for personal reading and whatnot.

Diana Rowland's fairly new. Her second book just came out a few weeks ago.Anassahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11554524219883438465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8181364634779383173.post-78341291478105860022010-03-06T16:41:32.762-08:002010-03-06T16:41:32.762-08:00And, we don't tend to have "Sunshine"...And, we don't tend to have "Sunshine" in the store I work at, Anassa. Might be available for order though. I'll have to keep it in mind. Haven't heard of Diana Rowland's books. I'll have to see if we have them.

Thanks for the suggestion, Emily. I'd forgotten about Kim Harrison.Elenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08961035078725474747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8181364634779383173.post-1717605249686680932010-03-06T11:25:50.462-08:002010-03-06T11:25:50.462-08:00Kim Harrison's Hollows series would be another...Kim Harrison's Hollows series would be another good one to recommend. Similar writing style, similar amount of humor. Her main character is not down-homey like Sookie is however. I think of Charlaine Harris, Patricia Briggs, and Kim Harrison as the big three of the paranormal genre. I also really like Kelley Armstrong's Darkest Powers trilogy (which is YA), as well as her Women of the Otherworld series (which is not).
I think that early Anita Blake books are a good recommendation, with the caveat that they are more violent and that the series really just turns into bad erotica after about the ninth book. The first eight are really good though.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08274859632510674470noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8181364634779383173.post-91305549795395350532010-03-05T23:51:43.057-08:002010-03-05T23:51:43.057-08:00Weighing in belatedly…

I'd also suggest the other books by Harris, of course, starting with the "Grave" books because they've also got a supernatural element.

Personally, I've had fairly good luck suggesting Sunshine by Robin McKinley. I hadn't thought of Huff, but then again, we sadly don't carry her. :(Anassahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11554524219883438465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8181364634779383173.post-73019817460881876192010-03-05T18:39:56.648-08:002010-03-05T18:39:56.648-08:00Good to know that I'm at least in the right ne...Good to know that I'm at least in the right neighborhood with my suggestions, Natalie. Haven't seen anything from the third author you suggested though, so I'll have to keep her in mind.

Fantasylover12001, that's one I'd forgotten about. I'd also add Jeaniene Frost to the list!Natalie https://www.blogger.com/profile/15879112865868418812noreply@blogger.com
